Dirt. At the Bundy reunion that is pretty much all that is provided. Dirt and smelly outhouses. This was my third year going and I'm not going to lie: I was not siked about going. I just wasn't sure it was worth being completely covered in dirt and being so hot that you just sit around and bake. But I made up my mind to go and so I did. I guess I'm one of those people who don't like the idea of going but then once I get there it's totally fine. I am so glad that I went because it gave me time to be away from everything. And I mean literally everything. I had no cell phone or internet to tie me to the outside world and it was fantastic. I just got to be me and enjoy everything because it was so simple. The reunion is out on the Arizona strip about 50-60 miles away from paved roads and air conditioning. Somehow Bundys keep on coming year after year even though it is in the hot, sweaty desert. But I definitely know why they come: Freedom. There is absolute freedom out there, the kind you can't really find anywhere else. You can do whatever you want, whenever you want. Brittney and I rode fourwheelers and dune buggies and just had a way fun time getting plastered with dirt. At night we drove the truck into a nearby field and looked at the stars. There are so many out there it boggles my mind to even think of any of them as other planets or worlds. We saw quite a few shooting stars while we talked about our lives and what the future has in store for us. It kind of hit me that next year at this time I will be a legal adult. How freaking scary. For a long time I could not wait for this moment but now I'm just kind of freaking out. I hardly feel different from when I was nine years old and I'm 17. It is bizarre how time passes so quickly. That moves on to my next item of business. Zac is getting married. This totally trips me out. Even though I've seen Matt and Josh get married and start families it just seems weird that it's Zac's turn. In my head he'll forever be a cocky 13 year old teasing me about my chicken pox. I'm happy for him though, everything's going to turn out right for him in the end. Now for the most recent happening in my life: The Mother Daughter T Time. Oh my gosh. I did not realize how much preparation goes into a dang Young Women's activity. I was in charge of food and games and it was exhausting! For the food we made finger sandwiches, oreo chocolates, and cupcakes. Thanks to Jill I had a great recipe for the sandwiches-they were definitely the most popular. Everything went off pretty smoothly, we had a "how well do you know your daughter/mammy questionnaire and then this like timed race thing. For example the daughter had to french braid the mom's hair and then the mom had to hula hoop. I am so glad it is over. It takes so much time and effort to get everything together for something like this. Every leader that has to plan an activity definitely has my respect and condolences. Basically I'm never complaining about an activity again!
