The Bundy Reunion and other events

Dirt. At the Bundy reunion that is pretty much all that is provided. Dirt and smelly outhouses. This was my third year going and I'm not going to lie: I was not siked about going. I just wasn't sure it was worth being completely covered in dirt and being so hot that you just sit around and bake. But I made up my mind to go and so I did. I guess I'm one of those people who don't like the idea of going but then once I get there it's totally fine. I am so glad that I went because it gave me time to be away from everything. And I mean literally everything. I had no cell phone or internet to tie me to the outside world and it was fantastic. I just got to be me and enjoy everything because it was so simple. The reunion is out on the Arizona strip about 50-60 miles away from paved roads and air conditioning. Somehow Bundys keep on coming year after year even though it is in the hot, sweaty desert. But I definitely know why they come: Freedom. There is absolute freedom out there, the kind you can't really find anywhere else. You can do whatever you want, whenever you want. Brittney and I rode fourwheelers and dune buggies and just had a way fun time getting plastered with dirt. At night we drove the truck into a nearby field and looked at the stars. There are so many out there it boggles my mind to even think of any of them as other planets or worlds. We saw quite a few shooting stars while we talked about our lives and what the future has in store for us. It kind of hit me that next year at this time I will be a legal adult. How freaking scary. For a long time I could not wait for this moment but now I'm just kind of freaking out. I hardly feel different from when I was nine years old and I'm 17. It is bizarre how time passes so quickly. That moves on to my next item of business. Zac is getting married. This totally trips me out. Even though I've seen Matt and Josh get married and start families it just seems weird that it's Zac's turn. In my head he'll forever be a cocky 13 year old teasing me about my chicken pox. I'm happy for him though, everything's going to turn out right for him in the end. Now for the most recent happening in my life: The Mother Daughter T Time. Oh my gosh. I did not realize how much preparation goes into a dang Young Women's activity. I was in charge of food and games and it was exhausting! For the food we made finger sandwiches, oreo chocolates, and cupcakes. Thanks to Jill I had a great recipe for the sandwiches-they were definitely the most popular. Everything went off pretty smoothly, we had a "how well do you know your daughter/mammy questionnaire and then this like timed race thing. For example the daughter had to french braid the mom's hair and then the mom had to hula hoop. I am so glad it is over. It takes so much time and effort to get everything together for something like this. Every leader that has to plan an activity definitely has my respect and condolences. Basically I'm never complaining about an activity again!

Talk a little, Pick a little

One of my most favorite things to do is talk, especially with people where we can go on for hours and hours about everything under the sun. Today Kalista and I talked for 3.5 hours straight with topics varying from cliques at school to the Holocaust. I just love hanging out with her because I can be completely honest and myself. And we share a lot of the same interests and random geeky behaviors. Then I got a call from Jill too and we had a good chat. We haven't talked in FOREVER (which is most definitely my fault since I am such a slacker with emailing) so it was good just to be able to talk and catch up a bit. I love that just talking something out can make the day so much better. Today was pretty rough because I was feeling left out and just pretty mediocre about everything. But being able to go over to Kalista's house and just talk about everything helped so much. Plus being able to chat with Jill for a bit just made it better. Thanks to everyone who listens to me gab!

Youth Conference

So I was really nervous and not excited to go to youth conference. Some things had happened in with some of the people in the ward and I just was really apprehensive to go. But through much convincing from Aubrey and my gramma I decided to go. I had asked one of my leaders to fix it so Micki and I could be in the same room since we both were going through some of the same issues. So after packing as much as humanly possible and then talking myself out of going at least three times I finally decided to just accept it and hope for the best. When I got to the church I was nervous to who I was going to be riding with because the cars were assigned. It turned out I had a pretty fantastic group to ride with. They were all so fun to talk to and be around. I felt comfortable and like I was among friends which is something that hadn't really happened before with that particular group of people. As we headed to Manti we had a lot of fun, there definitely was not a dull moment. I was also super lucky to get Sister Callahan as the driver for our car. She is literally one of my favorite people. I look up to her so much and the mom she is to her family. When we go to Manti I realized I didn't know it would be so beautiful. It was so green and pretty much picturesque, not to mention the temple which was absolutely stunning. The first day we got there we went to a park and played games. My favorite was Red Rover which I hadn't played since elementary school. Then we had dinner prepared by Brother Callahan and his brother. They were so cute. They are probably in their 50's but they did everything together. They look a lot a like so it was really just like two little kids hanging out. We had dinner and then it was time for a devotional. Brother Young gave it and introduced our theme: Be Strong and Of a Good Courage. He then went on to tell us the story of David and Goliath. He even had a picture that the bishopric had drawn of Goliath to scale. He then went on to explain that there are Goliaths in our lives today and we need to be aware of them and ready to overcome them with faith. About this time the mosquitoes decided to feast on all of us. We went back to our dorms at Snow College and then the fun really began. I think there was a poker game downstairs and upstairs a few of us decided to have a toga/dance party. Thanks to my ingenious idea of bringing a cd player. After that everybody was pretty worn out so we decided to go to bed. Meagan suggested that we have prayer as a dorm. She has such good ideas and I am so jealous of her all the time. The next day we had an early hike and a devotional by bishop. He talked about how we need to experience the refiner's fire. Then we were on to our service project at the Manti temple grounds. We were weeding and helping to move some trees that had been cut down. That night we went to the pageant. It was well done and everything but there were some parts that were just downright funny. Plus I was sitting next to Sage so I could not get a grip. The next morning as we got ready to go and have testimony meeting I realized that I was so grateful that I had come. There was a lot of bonding between the kids in the ward and the leaders and I wouldn't have missed it for the world. I am grateful to live in a place where I can have opportunities to learn and feel of Heavenly Father's love. On the way back from Manti my car had some pretty deep conversations. We talked about our futures and what we wanted to do with our lives. It's pretty cool to be around such amazing people who are going to do so much for the world. To sum everything up, I am glad I went.

I am a slacker slash I love summer rain.

I have not updated this blog in forever! It's mostly because I am a major slacker and never wanted to take the time, instead preferring to waste unthinkable amounts of time on facebook. However, I have decided that I do need to document my life for many reasons: crazy stuff happens, funny stuff happens, average stuff happens, crappy stuff happens- basically I want to remember this time in my life. I do not know what the future has in store for me so I need to enjoy the present! Well. There actually are some things I wish I knew RIGHT this very moment. Such as:
  1. My AP English test score.
  2. How things will turn out with my friends.
I'm pretty anxious to find out my AP test score because I know that at least one of my essays was definitely ridiculous. It went something like this: Hi. I am a blabbering idiot. I am going to ignore the topic and go off on a rant that no one can follow. I have no support to back my argument at all and I'm making a complete fool out of myself. The End. Please disregard my completely retarded essay because my brain is fried. So it wasn't quite like that but pretty darn close. I am going to be so embarrassed if I do not pass because everybody expects me to. At times that feels like a huge compliment and others it feels like a burden.
Then the whole friend situation. DUMB. I love being a teenager and a girl but honestly I hate the drama that comes with it. Currently I am not even speaking to two of my friends- not because I am especially mad but because I just don't know how I feel about them right now. To me a friend is supposed to be a two way thing and most of the time it feels like I listen to them whine about their lives and they ignore anything going on in my life. I do love them and the times we have but I just need to take a break and figure more of my life out. Thank you for reading this far into my sob story. Haha. Now for the most important part of this post...SUMMER RAIN.
I love rain. Especially in the summer because the smell of summer mixes with the smell of rain and this equals total bliss. When it started raining tonight Micki, Tiffany, and I went outside and jumped on the trampoline. For some reason rain just makes everything more fun. I cannot remember the last time I jumped on the trampoline and tonight we were outside doing tricks and rain chants for 45 minutes. I love the clean feeling rain brings. It honestly amazes me that just some random water falling from the sky can make the air that clean and fresh. It's like a dryer sheet for the air. Well. I am done with this particular rant. If you read this entire thing... CONGRATULATIONS. You are definitely accomplished.

Fun with cousins...

My cousins came over for the weekend. The rest of the family was going to Zions on Saturday but all the girls didn't want to. So instead we went to lunch and shopping! It was quite fun. We went to 25 main for lunch and cupcakes then we went shopping. After we had pretty much no money left we went and tried on prom dresses! Everyone looked so pretty! Thanks for the fun day girls! :)

Harry Potter Midnight Opening!

Micki, Tiffy, and I went to the Harry Potter 6 Midnight Opening and it was amazing! We got to the theater at 10 and went straight to our seats. Then we just had to wait. But it was SO worth it! I was already in love with the whole series, movies and books but this movie just made it even better! It had amazing special affects and brought the audience into the movie. And it was probably the funniest movie so far. It wasn't all dark and dreary or anything. Most of the movie was light and comical. It was so great! It is a must see for sure!

Reunions up the ying yang...

So in the past 3 weeks I've had 2 family reunions. I'm all familied out! The first one was at the end of June and it was all my gramparents kids. So my mom and her two brothers and their families. It was a whole lot of Wilson. They were just here for 2 days. We went swimming, attempted boating, went to dinner, played fugitive, and took pictures. My uncle Blaine is a professional photographer so it was good.

Cousins eating popsicles outside my house.

Michael being a cutie!

The pictures we took on the red mountain!
Ain't we cute!?
This time a real cute face!
I think I look cute here. Haha. Which is rare!
The whole big shabang! Except for Ronnie. And who cares about him? Haha. For real.

The second family reunion wasn't actually mine. I went with Brittney and her fam. It was the Bundy Reunion on Mt. Trumball on the Arizona Strip. And it was SOO much fun! I've never been so dirty in my life but I had so much fun! We went 4-wheeling and got lost. Then the next day we ran out of gas and were stuck on the side of the road for a freaking hour! 10 cars/atvs passed us up until someone stopped. They were the nicest guys! We went to Ladybug Mountain and saw stuff. Brittney had some way cute cousins and so there was a lot to see... haha. You can never quite understand camping until you've gone to a Bundy Reunion. It's honestly hard to tell whether you've gotten a tan or if it's just dirt... At least until you get home and see your "tan" washing down the drain. I loved every minute of this reunion. Even when me and Brittney were stuck on the side of the road. Even when she started singing 99 bottles of beer on the wall. Haha. Well, maybe not so much right then. But still! It was a ton of fun. :)
